Strongest Vape Durability Test: GeekVape Aegis Mini

Strongest Vape Durability Test: GeekVape Aegis Mini

How tough does a vape mod need to be? If yours rides in a pocket, bounces around a car or goes camping, the answer is: tougher than most. That is the idea behind our Strongest Vape durability test, an ongoing search for the most durable vape mod in the world.

In this round, the GeekVape Aegis Mini was up on the chopping block.

Short version: The Aegis Mini is a compact regulated box mod with a rubberized cover, a metal frame and a built-in battery, advertised as dustproof, shockproof and IP67 waterproof. The video puts it through the kind of abuse everyday life dishes out. This is an archived test, and the Aegis Mini is not sold in our shop.

What GeekVape promised

GeekVape built its Aegis line around toughness, and the Aegis Mini brings that idea to a smaller regulated box mod. A regulated mod uses a chip to control power output, unlike a mechanical mod. Here is what the Mini brought to the test:

  • A rubberized cover and metal frame to absorb knocks and drops
  • An internal battery, so there are no loose cells to carry
  • Dustproof and shockproof construction
  • IP67 water resistance

The question was simple: can this mod make it through your everyday life, and is it a worthy competitor for the title of most durable vape mod?

What IP67 actually means

IP ratings come from an international standard that grades how well a casing keeps out solids and water. The first digit covers dust, and 6 is the top score: dust-tight. The second digit covers water, and 7 means the device is built to handle temporary immersion, up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes, under test conditions.

That is a strong rating, but it is not a promise that your mod will survive anything. Ratings are tested on new devices, seals and port covers wear over time, and the tank on top is separate hardware with its own weak points. If your mod gets wet, dry it off completely before you use or charge it.

Living with a built-in battery

An internal battery makes a mod simpler to carry, since there are no spare cells rattling around in your pocket. The trade-off is that you charge it by cable and cannot swap in a fresh battery when it runs low.

  • Use the charging cable and power source the maker recommends.
  • Do not leave a mod charging unattended or overnight.
  • If the mod gets unusually hot or the case starts to bulge, stop using it.
