Strongest Vape Durability Test: Aegis Legend 200 Watt

Strongest Vape Durability Test: Aegis Legend 200 Watt

Ian and Chris were back with another round of our Strongest Vape durability test, and this time a fan favorite was on the bench: the Aegis Legend 200 watt box mod from GeekVape.

Plenty of you asked us to test this one by name. The Legend is a popular choice for vapers who want a robust mod that can make it through whatever you throw at it, so we wanted to see whether it could survive the full gauntlet of tests.

Short version: The Aegis Legend pairs up to 200 watts with a strong metal enclosure, IP67 water resistance and a dustproof rating. The video shows how it handled our durability gauntlet. This is an archived test, and the Legend is not sold in our shop.

Why the Aegis Legend made the list

GeekVape’s Aegis line is built around toughness, and the Legend is the full-size, higher-power member of the family. Here is what it brought to the test:

  • Up to 200 watts of output
  • A strong metal enclosure built to take knocks
  • IP67 water resistance with a dustproof rating
  • Two 18650 batteries that you can remove and swap

Next to the Aegis Mini, which we also tested, the Legend trades pocket size for more power and swappable batteries.

What a rugged rating does and does not cover

IP67 means the casing is dust-tight and built to handle temporary immersion in water, up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes, under test conditions. That is a good sign for a mod that lives in a work truck, a toolbox or a backpack.

A rating is still not a guarantee. Seals wear with age, a battery door that is not fully closed can let water in, and the tank on top has its own weak points. If your mod takes a dunk, dry it completely and check it over before you vape on it again.

Caring for the batteries inside

A tough shell protects your batteries, but it cannot make up for worn or mismatched ones. With any dual-battery mod:

  • Use a matched pair: same brand, model and age, charged and used together.
  • Replace or rewrap any battery with a torn wrap.
  • Use a dedicated external charger when you can.
  • Do not leave batteries, or a mod with batteries inside, in a hot car.

Protecting any mod you carry

  • Use a sleeve or case. A silicone sleeve adds grip and softens drops.
  • Keep the 510 connection clean. Wipe away leaked juice so your tank keeps good contact.
  • Pack it right for flights. Airlines require vapes and spare batteries to travel in your carry-on, not your checked bag. Read our guide to flying with vape gear before a trip.

More from the durability series

We also put the Tesla Invader 3 through the same kind of test. Whatever mod you carry, the Zamplebox Club can keep the juice side covered with a monthly box matched to your taste.
