Vaping and EDC (Everyday Carry)

Vaping is one of Chris’s favorite hobbies, and it ties in nicely with something else he got into: EDC, short for everyday carry. EDC is simply the set of items you carry with you every day. For a lot of adults who vape, that naturally includes the vape.
Where vaping and EDC overlap
The connection goes back further than you might think. When early vapers were developing mechanical mods, some modified flashlights to fit 510 connectors so they could attach atomizers. Flashlights are an EDC staple, so that’s one of the original links between the two hobbies.
These days, EDC leans minimalist: carrying less, and choosing keys, wallets and tools that fit your life. In the video, Chris, Ian and Max talked about how vaping fits into that and showed off their personal EDC setups.
Tips for carrying your vape
- Never carry loose batteries. Spare cells can short-circuit against keys or coins in a pocket. Use a plastic battery case, and read our battery safety guide.
- Check your wraps. Rewrap or replace any battery with a torn or nicked wrap.
- Lock it or switch it off. Most devices have a lock or power-off setting that prevents accidental firing in a bag or pocket.
- Prevent leaks. Don’t overfill a refillable tank, and keep it upright when you can.
- Be considerate. Follow the rules wherever you are, and don’t vape where it isn’t allowed.
- Flying? Vapes and spare batteries belong in your carry-on, never in checked bags. Our guide to flying with vape gear has the details.

Where things stand now
Vapes have gotten smaller since this video, and many adults now carry a slim pod system or a disposable vape instead of a mod and spare batteries. Whatever you carry, the basics haven’t changed: keep batteries protected, and vape only where it’s allowed.
