Vaping and ASMR

If you have never heard of ASMR, this video will fix that. Literally.
ASMR, short for autonomous sensory meridian response, was the new video and audio experience people were talking about when Ian and Chris decided to take a closer listen. Their focus: ASMR videos that bring vaping into the mix.

What ASMR is
ASMR describes the tingling feeling some people get from certain quiet sounds and slow, gentle movements, like whispering, tapping or soft crinkling. Creators record those sounds up close with sensitive microphones. Much of the content is made to be calming and pleasant to listen to, with that tingle as the goal.
Where vaping comes in
Around the time of this episode, vaping ASMR videos had started popping up on YouTube. Vaping gives a microphone plenty to work with, from the crackle of a coil to the click of a fire button, and some creators built whole videos around sounds like these.
Ian and Chris gave the trend an honest listen and shared their reactions. Whether you love ASMR or can’t stand it, the episode is a fun look at one of the stranger corners of vape culture.
Love it or hate it
ASMR tends to split people into two camps. Some people can listen to the videos for hours. Others can’t make it past the first whisper. Watch the episode, and you will probably know which camp you are in within a minute.
Where things stand now
ASMR has grown into a genre of its own since this episode, and the sounds of the hobby are still part of the fun. Some sounds are worth listening for, though: if your tank starts to gurgle or your vape tastes off, a flooded or worn coil is often the cause. Our guide on when to change your vape coils explains the signs, and how to clean your tank covers the rest.
